Job Description

 

General Description

 

Plan, implement and oversee all recreational activities for the city of Delphos, with the assistance and supervision of the Parks & Recreation Superintendent.

 

Work Schedule

 

January begin preparing and planning season with the Parks & Recreation Superintendent. Minimum seven hundred hours includes season preparation and the full time season which begins mid May, June, July and ends mid August Sunday thru Friday. Additional time may be required if additional events are scheduled. Hours may vary depending on the weather conditions. Record of time to be kept in accordance of Parks & Recreation Superintendent.

Work Duties

  • To develop and present a minimum of two recommendations per season, to the Superintendent of Parks & Recreation, for new summer recreational activities: Implementation and supervise the activities.
 
  • To implement and supervise new activities or programs recommended by the Parks & Recreation Superintendent and approved by the City Administration
 
  •

To perform duties effectively and efficiently within the guidelines of the   recreation budget.  All July 4th Celebration Recreational Activities within the Parks
 

  • Recommendations to the Board of Control by March 1st for the following:
 

•

Umpire Pay Rates, Facility Rental Rates, League Fees and any other fee relating to the Summer Recreation Director.
 
  • Publicize all meetings and sign-up opportunities with the media and school officials for all summer recreation activities using time coordination with all league schedules and officials.
 
  • Contact and meet with all league officials in an appropriate time coordination, to sign-up all participants for the following current leagues and all new activities:
 

•

Umpire Pay Rates, Facility Rental Rates, League Fees and any other fee relating to the Summer Recreation Director.
  • Knothole league – boys & girls 6 & 7 year olds
  • Boys T-Ball – boys 8 & 9 year olds
  • Girls Softball – girls 2, 3 & 4th Grade
  • Girls High School Softball – 8th, Fresh., Soph, Junior
  • Little League – Minor, City and Pony League Boys
  • Men’s Softball – Tuesday night
  • Women’s Softball – Wednesday night
  • Coed Volleyball Leagues – Monday & Wednesday night
  • Men’s, women’s and double’s Tennis
  • Youth Basketball Program
  • Youth Volleyball Program
  • Youth Tennis Program
  • Kickball League – youth, adult
  • Organize 5 years and younger activities program
  • Organize Senior Citizens programs
 
  • Establish, immediately after signup, for all active leagues the following:
 

•

League Schedule
  • Tournament Schedule
  • Establish a fair diamond schedule
  • Establish league rules
  • Contract, assign, train and pay umpires
 
  • Order, inventory and track all sports equipment for city summer leagues.
  • Collect all city league fees including women’s, men’s softball and coed volleyball leagues.
  • Recruit and train coaches according to established league rules for:
 

•

T-ball and girls 2, 3 and 4 Softball
  • Tennis
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
 
  • Record keeping as recommended by the Parks & Recreation Superintendent:
 

•

Umpires
  • Team Rosters
  • League Schedules
  • Tournament Schedules
 
  • Oversee and make recommendations to the Parks & Recreation Superintendent for the following within an appropriate time coordination:
 

•

Maintenance and dragging of diamonds
  • Maintenance of volleyball, tennis, basketball and children’s playground equipment
  • Pictures – contact, times and distribution
  • Trophies – order, pick-up and presentation
  • Game Results – tracking and notification of media on results
  • Cancellation of activities within all the parks due to weather
 
  • Schedule Summer Camps or additional activities in the parks other than leagues.

 

Normal Employment Standards

Graduation from High School or General Education Development Certificate.


Required knowledge, abilities and skills

Ability to work well with others, ability to problem solve and be confident with your decision making process.  Record keeping, scheduling and organizational skills.  Knowledge of sports fundamentals.


Special Requirements


Must have a valid drivers license issued by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Must be bondable.
