General Description

Responsible for performing unskilled tasks of physical nature, for the city of Delphos, with the assistance and supervision of the Parks & Recreation Superintendent. The position involves the maintenance of grounds, buildings and custodial activities for the Parks and Recreation Department.
 

Work Schedule

The summer season may require 40 hours per week. The periods prior and subsequent to the summer season are flexible and may require less based on scheduled activities within the Parks.  (Summer Season: June, July and August) Record of time to be kept in accordance with the Parks & Recreation Superintendent.
 

Work Duties

To work with Parks & Recreation Superintendent on projects designed to maintain and improve the parks system.  Typical Tasks will include the following:  Mow grass, rake lawns, sweep sidewalks, tree & shrub planting, trimming and care. Basic maintenance of equipment, service motors - oil grease and lube.  Paint, scrape, and clean buildings and equipment.  Sweep, wash, mop and wax floors-walls-furniture and fixtures. Daily swimming pool maintenance and custodial work.  Baseball, softball and football field preparation.   Minor repair work on buildings and equipment. Maintain parks and recreation parking lots. Perform daily custodial work on all restrooms or facilities.  All other related work as required.  Maintain and understand the importance of Clean and Safe recreational facilities.

Minimal Qualifications

15 years of age. Good physical condition along with physical strength and agility sufficient to perform routine manual work. Must be able to swim. 
                         

Required knowledge, abilities and skills

Ability to work well with others, ability to operate and maintain recreation department equipment.   Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
