The Delphos Police Department is committed to enhancing quality of life by ensuring the safety and protection of its citizens. Through active community cooperation, assistance and support, we fulfill our responsibility to protect life and property, enforce laws and take all appropriate measures to fight crime.
The Delphos Police Department is unique in that the city is geographically divided among two counties. This requires officers to have knowledge and exercise skill in dealing with two Juvenile Courts, two Municipal Courts and two Common Pleas Court systems. In addition, the city adjudicates its own local Mayor’s Court. In order to maintain knowledge of State and Federal Mandates and the ever-changing aspects of modern law enforcement, the Delphos Police Department continuously seeks to increase educational opportunities for its staff.
The Delphos Police Department is an active member of the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force. This unit is made up of several law enforcement agencies throughout Allen County, Van Wert County and Paulding County, several of which assign law enforcement personnel from their agency to work full and part time with Officers from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office. In addition to investigating drug activity, the task force presents public information talks to community, civic or school assemblies on drug related topics. The department’s active participation ensures additional resources such as manpower and equipment in investigating criminal activity.
It is the mission of the Delphos Police Department to safeguard the lives and property of the people we serve. We believe the overall quality of life for all residents is improved through the deterrence of criminal activity and an understanding of the community. Furthermore, we recognize the need for fair and impartial enforcement of the law with attention given to the highest possible quality of service delivery to the community.
