Hydrant flushing may pull from neighboring wards depending on the location of the hydrants. Recommend checking your water quality prior to beginning any laundry.

What happens when you flush a hydrant? As water leaves the hydrant, it stirs up and removes sediment that might have accumulated in the mains and hydrant.

Hydrant flushing takes about 15 minutes.

Discoloration may linger for a few hours.  Discoloration only affects the appearance of the water, but does not affect water quality.  There are no health concerns associated with discolored water from hydrant flushing.

Avoid washing laundry during scheduled flushing times.  Wait until the water runs clear at the tap.  Allow a few hours for discoloration to dissipate.

If you continue to have discolored water, please contact the utility office at 419-695-4010.
